Why this site exists
Almost every new computer is now sold as an "AI PC". The label mostly means the chip has an NPU, a small AI accelerator that powers features like background blur and live captions. It says very little about the thing many buyers actually want to know: can this machine run a capable AI model on its own, privately, at a usable speed?
That comes down to two numbers most spec sheets bury: how much memory the processor or graphics card can use for the model, and how fast it can read that memory. We measure those effects directly, publish the raw results, and turn them into plain recommendations.
What we do
- Benchmarks on our own hardware. Every result has a test ID that links to the raw data, the exact software build and the exact model file.
- Buying guides. Mini PCs, laptops and desktops for local AI and for everyday AI features, at every budget.
- Tools. The Can it run? calculator estimates whether a model fits on a machine and how fast it will be.
- Open data. Our measurements are free to reuse under CC BY 4.0 from the data page.
Who we are
AIPCs is a small, independent site. Reviews and tests are done by our editor, AIPCs Editor, on the two machines in our test bench: a Ryzen 9 7900X desktop with an NVIDIA RTX 4060, and an ACEMAGIC K1 mini PC. We only mark a product Tested when we have run it ourselves. Everything else is marked Researched and cites its sources. How we test explains both.
We don't sell computers
Despite the .store address, this is not a shop. Every purchase happens at the retailer. When you buy through a store link on this site we may earn a commission, which pays for testing. It never decides what we recommend; we list every good place to buy a product, including stores that pay us nothing. Details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
